Despite the odd and suspicious packaging (wrought with spelling errors), this product works as specified. The buyer will have to fiddle a tiny bit with the program he/she is using (ePSXe, etc).
Fair warning, the package does NOT claim to support Vista! The product page is incorrect! The other reviewer seemed to have trouble with this. In fact, the back of the package reads, “Compatible with Win98, win98se, ,winME, Win2000&the newly announced WinXP,together with the Directx7.0a or above.” I got a kick out of the “newly announced” part. To be expected from something old AND from overseas (read seller description for that one).
Used with Windows XP Media Center Edition and a Dual Shock PS2 controller running ePSXe and PCSX2. I do not know how well it works with DDR pads or light guns. I cannot attest for the longevity of the product either.
Also, this price is unbeatable. I paid about 2 bucks for this, and it works exactly as I had hoped.

I purchased this to play SNES games on my computer and didn’t want to buy another cheap USB controller. I’m so happy!! It came in a timely manner, came in black instead of the blue that is pictured which is great, and works perfectly on my Vista x32. So if you’re also tired of cheap controllers, get this adapter and a Playstation controller and you’ll be ready to play! As some other reviewers have said, do not purchase this if you only intend to use it for Stepmania, Guitar Hero, or similar games because it will not work for some reason. Also I personally tried a generic brand controller that I had and it did not work, wireless also will not work as noted by another reviewer. Use true PSX or PS2 controllers and its perfect. Giving this product a try versus buying another controller you’re wary of is a smart choice for the price.

I bought this so I could use the guncon lightgun on my mame cabinet. Works like a charm…

I received this in a envelope package with bubble wrap around it, the envelope wasnt damaged, The instalation was super easy i just put in the disk that came with the adapter and it installed the drivers, even the vibration function works! SO far i havnt had any problems with this except that i think there is a tiny delay ( its kinda hard to tell) but other than that the product has worked for all my games and emulators!

I bought this because I didn’t want to buy another POS controller for the PC. I wanted one that worked as well as the PS2. When I got this, I plugged it in, Vista immediately recognized it, and it did not need to have the software installed. Plug N play all the way. I plugged in my controller, and started playing games. What a great product….
Rating
Works good. Just plug, set your buttons, and play. It remembers the device next time you plug it in, so you don’t have to reprogram the buttons.

This isn’t a “game,” but whatever.
I have several PSX games on my computer, and I had been playing them with my keyboard until my brother obtained one of these. I followed his example and purchased one for myself, and, using a DualShock, I can now play the PSX games as they were meant to be played. I can even use the DualShock with other emulators as well!
Frankly, I don’t know why there are any other PS/PS2 controller adapters out there, except for adding more controllers to each port. This adapter works flawlessly.
Just be sure to put the player 1 controller in the correct port.

This adapter is working perfectly for every emulator I try it with. Saved a lot of money on controllers that would not be as good as the PS ones.

For some time I was looking for a controller to play games on my computer with much more ease. I had a PC controller that was possibly over a decade old and had some kind of port that neither my desktop nor my laptop supported. I needed something that uses USB.
I’ve browsed through electronic stores and online stores, and either the game controllers were unavailable or cost somewhere between 10 and 20 dollars or more for a decent brand, some even with not enough buttons. Before making any decisions on purchase, a friend suggested looking for an adapter converter for Playstation controllers. Perfect, considering that I already owned a Playstation 2.
Browsing on Amazon, I came across a great deal for a “PS PS2 USB Dual Controller to PC Adapter Converter”. Not only is it USB, but it was much cheaper than buying a PC-exclusive game controller; it only cost me around 5 dollars and comes with two outlets for plugging in two PS controllers at once–like “killing two birds with one stone”. After all, why bother purchasing more controllers when I can use the ones I already have?
After receiving it, I gave the converter a ‘test drive’… And it really works! After configuring the controllers, I’ve tested it on some PC games, and it works like a charm. Even emulators and Stepmania work with it; it even supports dance pads!
Overall, it’s a great product for PC gamers who [1] need to use a single USB port, [2] already own PS game controllers, and [3] wish to play PC games with ease. It’s convenient, comes with two PS controller outlets, and costs a fraction of the price for a brand new game controller.
Plain and simple, it was the best 5 dollars I’ve ever spent.

Great product, Works with my mac flawlessly, Unlike some I received the transparent blue one shown in the picture. Works right out of package, did not need any software just plug in and play.
I’m using StepMania 3.9 on Mac, No lag no issues (May depend on what pad you use.)
The pad I’m using came with (Pump it up, PS2): Manufacturer, Mastiff
I recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to usb dance pads =)

I bought one of these several years ago to use some Playstation controllers for Windows games on my PC. It does what you expect – it lets you use Playstation controllers on your PC. I used it with Windows XP and Windows 7, so I know it’s compatible with both and should be compatible with Vista, too.
I always had a feeling these things were a bit flaky & weird. For example, the right controller appears first in the Windows device list, and the left controller appears second. This is the opposite of what I would expect. Also, one of the LED indicator lights (which indicate when a controller is plugged in) didn’t work on mine from the day I bought it – and I bought mine new. The most disappointing thing, though, is that mine stopped working tonight – Windows didn’t see anything when I plugged it into my PC, and nothing happened when I tried to use my controllers. I opened up the adapter and saw that one of the wires from the USB cable had become disconnected from the little circuit board inside. This is why I only give it 2 stars.
Based on my experience with this, I would recommend avoiding this product. I would look for a different adapter, or perhaps just buy a USB game controller that’s made for a PC.

This is a really great product.I have several PS2 controllers and this is much cheaper than buying two new pc gamepads.

I bought this so I could use my wireless guitar controller on my pc,but it doesn’t detect that it has buttons being pressed. I’ve tried it on XP, Vista, and Windows 7 and it all does the same thing. It seems to work with my wired PS2 controller (though I can’t seem to get the analog sticks to work, or L3 R3) but that ain’t what I bought it for. Lord, WHEN SHALL I BE ABLE TO ROCK OUT!?!?

I bought this for my brother so he can play games on his PC and he loves it.

Like others have said, this controller was not transparent blue, but came in a black color. I didn’t mind, it actually looks better in black in my opinion. The converter works great, I plugged it into my Windows Vista laptop and it installed and began working right away. I noticed others had problems getting the analog sticks to work (I’m using a PS2 controller). At first I had the same problem, the Left and Right analog stick didn’t register in the game controllers (located in control panel), neither did the L3 and R3 buttons. After 2 hours of fiddling around to see if I could find drivers or a keyboard-mouse-joystick remapping software, I noticed a mistake on my part, remember to TURN ON the “Analog button” between the two analog sticks. After I turned it on, everything was working like a charm. I’m using Xpadder to play Maplestory, it works great. If your using Windows Vista, you will notice that the joystick will work on the desktop, but when playing Maplestory, it does not work. You need to turn OFF ‘User Account Control’ (you can find that in ‘control panel>user accounts’) after you restart, it should work right away.
Good Luck PC gamers!
*Also* Product works with Windows XP (plug and play)

I Bought It To Use It With My Computer And Worked Perfectly.
MY COMPUTER RUNS MAC OS X I ALSO TRIED IT ON MY FRIENDS COMPUTER RUNING VISTA,
BOTH WORKED.
Then I decided To Try It On My PS3 And It Worked.
Everything Worked Flawlessly The Only Problem is There Is No Home Button.
BOTH PS1 AND PS2 CONTROLLERS WORK ON PS3 AND PC’S
I Recommend Getting It From HDE

Product says it works with dance pads, but will not recognize left+right or up+down at the same time, basically rendering anything but very basic play impossible. Haven’t played DDR in several years but regular jogging/running and the treadmill are boring so I figured I’d pick it back up and this adapter simply won’t work. I’ve tried several drivers+”fixes” to no avail, will be returning this item and buying a USB pad that will work without having to resort to community-made hacks.

Comes in black (not translucent blue) but that’s no big deal. Works fine for what I bought it for (Stepmania) although I did have to download a driver ([...])
Can’t beat it for the price!

This device is a must if you don’t like to play game with the keyboard (or if you messed up one of the buttons on your keyboard).
I was expecting the blue design when I received it, but it was black instead. Ah well, design color doesn’t matter as long as the device works.
It comes with a disk to install the software needed for your computer to support the device. The installation was very simple and quick to get through. The only problem I had was making the emulators recognize the controller (which was easily fixable in the configuration menu. If you’re going to use 2P mode, you’ll have to config that one the same as well). I recommend buying this product hands down.
Rating
worked just as described. Somewhat outdated, says, “Works with the latest operating system windows xp” but it works just as well on windows 7 ultimate. I just plugged it in and it worked right away. i didn’t even need to install the driver on the cd that came with it. So far i have tried using a ps1, ps2 dual shock, and ddr pad and they have all worked as if it was plugged into an actual playstation. so far i have played n64, snes, and ps2 emulators and they have worked fine. the ddr pad was testing using StepMania and it worked perfect as well.
highly recommend! this product works!

Really nice plugs in and play. I recommend getting “Xpadder” with it if you’re trying to use this for games that uses joysticks. Been using it for awhile now and still working.

This item worked for me for a total of 3 days before dying.
EDIT: The device did not infact die. I had a strange problem with my PC which stopped this device being recognised. I have since fixed it and it works fine.
I used this so I could use the guitar hero controllers for Frets on Fire. When used for single player it was perfect but when I plugged in the second controller the buttons pushed would not be the same buttons the game registered as being pressed (ie green button down = green AND red down). Yes I triple checked the key binding in the setting menu. This happened with both the controllers in separate ports.
If you buy this good luck! Hopefully I just got a bad one.

I bought it as second pad to play Stepmania. I got the clear blue as shown with RED led when plugged in. I noticed a loose plastic inside which rattled. Plugging in the PS2 connector on DDR dance pad was difficult due to poor quality connectors. In Stepmania configuration menu, none of the PS2/Wii DDR pad arrows are recognized. So I tested the adapter using my “PS/PS2/Xbox/USB/GC/Wii Tough Universal Dance Pad” (which works out of the box with Stepmania). This time, only diagnonal arrows on this pad are recognized. LEFT/RIGHT/UP/DOWN arrows are not recognized, making this unusable. Do not buy this if you have PS2 Dance Pads and want to use on your PC.

My son received this very quickly. At first the controller veered left all the time but the comapny helped us figure out the problem and it was OUR CONTROLLER!! Not the adapter. We’re all set now and my son plays with this all the time and loves it!!
Rating
Works great with my PSX/PS2 controllers perfectly. However, it doesn’t work with my Beatmania controller, which was the intended use for this product. It seems to get stuck in some kind of “autofire” mode when you hold down one of the buttons, making it impossible for me to play any Beatmania simulators, or even Stepmania. I still haven’t found a fix for this. Really disappointed.
Rating
I purchased this device in order to play some PC games using a PS2 controller mainly because that’s a controller I am used to using. I had some problems with getting specific controllers to work including a DDR mat in order to play it with Stepmania. The drivers were a bit of a pain to get working in Windows 7. Overall, they could use a bit of work but otherwise the product works. If you’re willing to put up with having to get the thing to work, this thing will work just fine for you. I definitely don’t regret buying it, just wish it didn’t have some of the issues that it has.

Well after having this for about a month now, i can not say I’m disappointed with the device, works 100% Perfected, I’m happy
to have this, beats the heck out of using a keyboard 2 play racing games an shooting games. so far i tested with, Need for speed underground 1 an 2, works on Grand theft auto liberty city story’s, vice city,an sand Andreas also running a 64bit version of windows XP an it works well with it, not sure about vista, other then that great buy u Wont regret purchasing A++

Works well over all with no lag.
Does not work with 2 controls though.

Instead of the transparent blue pictured, my connector was black which was extremely disappointing since it was the main reason I chose to buy this connector.
Sellers should change the image, since I can’t trust buying things based on the image displayed.

I actually got my adapter as a black colored USB wire with 2 wired split ends for the controller ports instead of a transparent blue box as shown. It depends on which seller you buy it from. I bought it from importer520 because it’s the cheapest one on the list. To describe the one I have, Even though the product does not look like the one that the picture posted, it works just as what the description describes. Also, each port is designated for their controllers, the first and second and can be confusing at the beginning because the ports are not labeled. Yes it’s plug n play but to get the controller’s vibration to work, you will need to google the proper driver to download because it does not come with a CD. Overall, this product really converts a PS/PS2 controller into a PC controller and works very well.

Bought this for my son to play PS2 games on his PC. He loves it! Works great. Product was received quickly, was easy to set up and works as advertised.

i use it only for stepmania. I haven’t tried this thing with my pc yet, but on my MACBOOK PRO 15″, it works like a charm!! i didn’t have to do no driver installation or anything! all you do is hold up+select+start for three seconds and whala! of course i did struggle a bit trying to figure it out, but eventually i got it to work! i love it!!

The PS PS2 USB Dual Controller to PC Adapter Converter is not compatible with Vista as the seller states in their discription of the unit. Even on the package it states only compatible with Win95/98/Me/2000/XP..no where does it list Vista…I tried it and it does not work with Vista.

cheers from Georgia.
I think this is very good device for gamers. Works perfectly on my Windows SE7EN x64 ultimate. Because of windows 7′s plug’n'play you don’t even need to install driver from disc. I got it today, and tested on Burnout Paradise: the ultimate box, works great.
So gamers if you plan to buy joystick and have psx’s original joystick, buy this device!!!

I got this thing for like $3-4 not expecting it to work properly, but it does and beautifully at that. Mine actually looks a bit different then the blue one shown, but Im not complaining. I mainly use this for the SNES and PS emulators, so now i can play with 2 people without passing the controller.
Rating
The adapter works…partially. All buttons on my wired PS2 controller work fine, but the analog sticks do not. I bought the adapter specifically because I wanted a controller with analog sticks, so I’m not happy.
Rating
Works great for the most part! Took a little loger to get to me than expected.

I had been wanting one of these for a long time, but walmart stoped selling one that they had so I came here! this thing picked up the controllers right away. Just a warning, not all controllers play nice with all games. I have a pelican wireless controller (love it!) but it didn’t play nice with Grand Theft Auto or Need For Speed. Does, however, work great with Emulators!!
Rating
bought this to use my ps2 ddr pad, with my pc.
you cant hit the up and down arrows, or the left and right arrows at the same time. or they dont register.
that basically means you cant play ddr.
tried the up+select+start 3 sec. trick. didnt work.
tried loading software. didnt help.
so for vista/stepmania. this is definately a DONT BUY>!!

It works!! It ACTUALLY works!! No CD, no setup, no driver, no bull!! It has a few kinks, however; I can get it do lateral movements (up, down, strafe, etc), and Control Stick and Action Buttons Work (O,X, Square, Triangle, etc); they count as “Joy Buttons”. But getting the Controller Stick to recognize Aiming is tricky… I have trouble getting that to work…. maybe you
could make it work?….
You still have to rely on the keyboard for Chat and other Functions, and the Mouse for Aiming (FPS) or Menu Interface; so DON’T chunk that Mouse thinking the Controller does everything!
If I can’t get the Aiming to work like a Consel FPS, I just use the Mouse to Aim with my Right Hand, and the Controller’s Left Thumb Stick in my Left Hand for latteral movement (up, down, strafe, etc); it works well that way..
heh heh.
Of coarse, you can always reverse the Controlls if your Right Handed (the Action Buttons to Move).
But the BOTTOM LINE IS: it works. It’s not perfect, it’s a ways off from replacing those expensive PC Controllers (which do work), and it’s not a full release from a Keyboard (I recomend a Wireless), but it sure beats that clunky, tank-like
Mouse and Keyboard style! (No dis to any Keyboard users- if you can master it, more power to you)
Score 1 for us Controller Purists! The time for Consel x PC Crossover is here! Well, sort of. At least affordably!

Great product! Plugged it into my usb port with the US beatmania 2dx controller and it worked instantly, even the turntable works. I didnt even need to configure the buttons in lunatic rave. Works with Windows Vista. There are no latency issues.
Rating
I plugged the adapter and two dualshock controllers in my computer, and it worked instantly. Installing the drivers (included on a CD) was easy and enabled rumble support. Perfect for Playstation and SNES emulation! Physical quality of adapter is good.
Rating
Arrived very very quickly. Indeed it is black instead of the pretty blue in the picture. The package says to use “START+SELECT for 3 secs” to use with dance pads. THIS DOES NOT WORK!!!! I googled for help, stepmania has a good page: the actual code is “START+SELECT+UP” for 3 secs. Once I got that right, it worked great.
Rating
Product does exactly what it says; I can play games using my PSX/PS2 Dualshock controllers, in addition to being able to play Stepmania with my DDR pad.
Just plug in the adapter, plug in your controller, and you’re ready to go. No extra BS necessary.
Simple, fast, flawless. You can’t beat this price.

I like it and function well on pc and i tried it on ps3 it’s also work!!
Rating
This item is great! It works well with my PS1 controller and ePSXe. No drivers are necessary, just plug it all in and set up your controller in your emulator. A little red LED lights up when it’s plugged in so you know that the controller is connected. Much, much better than spending 20+ bucks on a new controller that’s made for PC use. 5/5 stars!
Rating
Instead of the transparent blue pictured, my connector was black. Mine came with no CD with drivers or whatever but it was no real biggie. I have Vista and it plugged right in and worked perfectly. I mainly use it for NES/SNES emulation so I didn’t really mess with the rumble or analog sticks, but all the main buttons worked perfectly.
Also, on a whim I plugged it into my PS3 just to see if it would work AND SURE ENOUGH IT DID! Everything worked flawlessly, including rumble and analog! This is huge for cheap PS3 owners who still have PS2 controllers lying around. Instead of schilling out $55 for a second dualshock, buy one of these and you now have 2 “new” PS3 controllers. True you’re still tethered to the system like a gaming primitive, but it’s a hell of a lot cheaper!
I’ve only used regular PS2 controllers and it’s worked fine. But from reading other reviews it seems there’s compatibility issues with some guitar controllers, dance pads, light guns and some third-party controllers. So if you’re trying to use it for those and those only, you might want to look elsewhere. It seems some of these controllers have worked for some people. Still, for the price I’d say it’s worth the gamble for the simple fact that even if it doesn’t work for your specialty controller you can still use the standard issue just fine.
Also note that PS3 compatibility might depend on what PS3 model you have. (I have the 40 gig) It also seems like there are different versions of this item. The item you get might be different then the one I did. So your mileage may vary. But for me it has to be the best $4 I’ve ever spent in regards to gaming.
Rating
OK, so the packaging does in fact not say it works with Windows Vista. However, I tested it on both Premium x32 and Premium x64 and it works great! The driver is a 2006 driver, so any games created after that time period will not be compatible with the gamepad (at least directly from the game). I was able to find a key-mapping software to help me be able to use the controller and overcome this frustrating issue (vibration feedback is supported as well!!!) Also, I noticed my Logitech wireless PS2 controller does not work with this adapter; however, my wired Sony PS2 controllers work just fine with it. If you plan on buying this for games newer than 2006, start searching for a program that’ll allow you to remap your keyboard and mouse to your gamepad.

I purchased this product for the purpose of using it for playing Guitar Hero III and GH Aerosmith on my PC and Mac computer. Unfortunately, it wasn’t programed to have that ability, so I have to return it because it isn’t what I want.
I’m still looking for a product like this to use on either Mac or PC for Guitar Hero. I hope someone is working on it but last I heard, that wasn’t a priority.
And with Guitar Hero World Tour and Smash Hits coming out for PC and Mac this summer, the need and want for such a product is becoming greater.
