My 8 year old wanted a horse game and so we bought the I Love Horses DS game without much thought. Fortunately, we bought it used and were able to return it, she was bored by it within the first 15 minutes. We did a little research through Amazon and settled on Horse Life Adventure. She LOVES this game! I have had to limit her time playing or that’s all she would be doing. She has told me several times how much she loves the game and thinks it is the best ever! Within a few minutes her horse already had a baby foal and it was one good thing after another from then on. I can’t speak for some of the other horse games that look good (Ener-G, Championship Pony, and Petz) but I can pretty much guarantee that this one will satisfy!

This game is definately my favorite. The graphics are amazing, the controls, and the game overall. The description on the game doesn’t lie one bit except for, EVERY HORSE IS A BOY. So don’t name your horse Sugar, like I did! I could play this game all day and not get tired of it. It’s very easy to control your horse in everything you do with it. I would totally reccomend this game!

In this game, you create a horse. That horse is the mother of your new foal! Then you get to see the foal and name it. At first I was scared, because the markings on the foal weren’t the same as the mothers. Then suddenly it says “Three years later” and you can see your horse, now fully grown and with the same markings as the mother. I was dissapointed that it skiped three years, I didn’t get to see my horse grow up! But the game payed for that…
You can do lots of different things, going for rides is my favorite. You can also groom your horse, muck out the stall, train for competitions, visit them in the pasture, buy supplies at the tack shop, and once you unlock competitions, you get tired of the old stuff! Suprises come every second. At one point your horse starts acting up, don’t worry… you are doing nothing wrong! I’ll leave out why he is acting up, but believe me, it’s not good.
Once you unlock competitions, you want to do them constantly! Overall this game is fun and addicting, I can’t get enough! Defenitly 5 stars!

I bought this game for my daughters 11 birthday. She loves it. It was a little tricky to figure out at first, but now that is the only game she wants to play. The graphics are incredble, very life like. You have to groom and feed and do all the things to care for your horse that you do in real life. You get to design your horse and name it. The better you care for your horse the more fun things you get to do with your horse. There are just relaxing rides and there are competitions and much more. I do wish there were better instructions on how to use this game. It was a little frustrating at first until we figured it out. But now its great!

This is a great horse game. It’s got some difficulty level to it which makes it a great game for teens and young adults. I like how many different games and levels it has and I really like the fact that you can buy clothes and tack at the tack shop, too. If you are thinking of a horse game I say this is a great buy. Get it!

My daughter wanted a horse game for her DS, so I read some reviews and decided on Horse Life Adventures. I’ve never actually played the game, but she plays it a lot and I’ve seen some of the activities while she plays. It looks very real – the graphics are great. It really looks like you’re riding through a beautiful trail and on occasion you have to use the stylus to jump, etc. She also likes grooming the horse and entering the competitions. My daughter is 11 years old, but I’d say it would be good for ages 7-adult.

First off, this is an absolutely fantastic game. The gameplay, graphics, and customization are all amazing. The ONLY reason I did not give it a five is because I had technical issues with the game. At some points it would freeze or take a very long time to load. I laid my Wii on its side and this seemed to resolve the problem. I purchased my Wii the year it came out, so this could very well be an issue with my Wii and not the game itself. The game also had the tendency not to show what the clothing looked like in the store, just the mannequin. I didn’t care so much about the rider as the horse, so this did not really bother me, but I can see how it would bother others.
On to the good stuff:
+Absolutely superb graphics. Some of the pictures look grainy in the photos I uploaded, but this is because of the transfer from TV to camera to computer. The environments are gorgeous.
+Great controls:
The Horse Life series originally was only available on the DS, but with the second game, it was released on DS, Wii, and PC (not available in the States and good luck finding it; took me quite some time to find my copy). Being familiar with both DS games in the series, I was curious how the DS controls were going to translate to the Wii. I was very happy to find they translated beautifully. If you’ve never played a Horse Life game, it might seem odd having to execute various movements before a jump or in dressage, but the controls do not hinder you. In Petz: Horse Club, it literally pained me trying to get the Wiimote controls to respond causing me to place my sensor bar anywhere I thought would help. These controls respond quickly, so it may take some getting used to, but it is not a problem.
+Horse creation is satisfyingly varied. Though not as varied as the DS version, it has far more options for coat/mane combinations with options for leg and face markings. Along with this is the unlockable tack varying from splint boots, ear nets, saddles, bridles, and saddle pads. The unlockable horses are fantastic as well, such as a unicorn.
+Very realistic. Unfortunately, I was not able to get any good pictures of grooming. When you curry the horse, you can see the dirt fall off and disperse in the air. With brushing, as you move the brush down, the hair falls flat again. My roommate who has become accustom to my horse games, watched me play this game and was in awe at how realistic the grooming looked.
+Many different courses. There is a series of each dressage, cross-country, and show jumping as well as a series of eventing which consists of a competition including all three.
As a final thought: I highly recommend this game and prefer it to the DS version simply because I can view it on the TV. The DS has more depth in the game, such as travelling to Africa and America each which different courses and music suited for the area. I prefer it to the PC because I have more customization options, though the PC version has far more stunning visuals.
A quick note: This doesn’t really relate to gameplay, but owning the European version of both the DS and PC version of the game, it was curious that names of things changed. Ear nets are called ear muffs in the game. Not sure why. Definitely not called that in the PC version. Characters names have been change as well, such as Quentin being changed to Lucas or something and Melanie being changed to Jennifer. Not important, just interesting.

I could take it or leave it. My daughter REALLY wanted a horse game for Christmas, so I got her something that I thought looked fun, but was still affordable. She has played it a couple of times, but it is pretty boring.

This game was my first horse based game for the Wii and I was a little worried that the controls would be difficult to use but I was completely wrong! This game has great controls and are very easy to use! Overall it was enjoyable and was not too easy butnot too hard. The graphics are simply wonderful and the music is really relaxing too. The plot to this game is much like the PC’s version: You mustcomplete training to show at different levels and work your way up. I think the game captured the horses comformation beautifully and is extremely realistic. You do get more than one horse but you cant show your other horses just the one you got from the beginning. You may still ride them and whatever. Horse Life Adventures is a game I would definitely recommend to others.
